Susie Chung

Collaborative Pianist

Susie Chung is Heart of LA’s proud and accomplished Collaborative Pianist for the Intergenerational Choir. She brings extensive expertise to her educational work and performances. She completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California on a full scholarship, where she also served as an assistant lecturer. Her extensive training encompasses a diverse range of musical disciplines, including keyboard collaborative arts, music education, piano pedagogy, and jazz studies. In 2008, Dr. Chung gained recognition by winning the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition at Brevard Music Center. Throughout her career, she has been the recipient of numerous scholarships and has performed across the United States, Europe, and Asia. 

Dr. Chung has established herself as an active lecturer and collaborator in Los Angeles, working with esteemed institutions and ensembles such as the University of Southern California, East Los Angeles College, Francis University, Ezra University, and the Korean American Youth Symphony. Beyond traditional concert halls, Dr. Chung’s passion for music extends into various artistic endeavors. She has contributed to theatrical productions like “Medusa: The Musical” at the Getty Villa Theater Lab Series, collaborating with Deaf West Theatre, and has participated in innovative light and sound installations such as “Lucid Box” in Los Angeles. Susie’s artistic contributions are characterized by their diversity and impact. Outside of her musical pursuits, Dr. Chung enjoys gardening, hiking, and exploring the coffee roasteries.
