As a lifelong Angeleno and father of two, I love Los Angeles, my home, and am passionate about making our city the best it can be. I am committed to leading the excellent work at Heart of Los Angeles and believe every young person deserves equitable access to high quality enrichment programs. At Heart of Los Angeles, we help our young people break down barriers, which impact our students of color particularly hard, serving students across LA County at our Westlake/MacArthur Park and South Central LA partnership campuses.
Heart of Los Angeles’ work is essential for creating communities focused on bettering young people’s futures. Serving kids aged 6-24, many of whom overcome poverty to become the first in their families to attend colleges, trade schools, or certification programs, Heart of Los Angeles encourages youth to achieve their dreams and pursue their passions.
I am committed to expanding opportunities and actively advocating for greater access to state and federal funding for after-school organizations. As the Governance Board Chair for Expand LA, a CA3 Advocacy Steering Committee member, and a Commissioner of the California Senate Rules Committee, I promote policies enhancing the quality and accessibility of after-school programs and advise on state and federal policy and funding issues to impact more young people across our state. And with that work, I am able to better serve our Heart of Los Angeles community and sustainably grow our community of leaders to create more impactful, locally-driven change.
I am led by a singular goal – to help every young person in Los Angeles realize their full potential – and hope you will join me in achieving this critical mission.
Warmest regards,
Tony
