YOLA at HOLA Woodwinds Substitute Teaching Artist
Carlos A. Herrera received his Bachelor’s of Music in Instrumental Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University- Long Beach and is an active freelance woodwind performer and instructor in the Los Angeles area. Apart from having a private studio, Carlos also serves as a woodwind teaching artist and woodwind coach for the Los Angeles Philharmonic YOLA program, an El Sistema-based organization that provides music education in historically underserved communities. Carlos is an active member of the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir, the Synesthesia Sinfonietta Orchestra, the Afro-American Chamber Music Society, The Caelum Sonatine Flute trio, he has performed with Jacaranda Music, the Syrinx Reed Quintet, the La Mirada Symphony, the Huntington Beach Symphony Orchestra, the Bellflower Symphony, and he serves as a woodwind doubler for various musical theater productions in the Los Angeles area. When he is not performing or teaching, Carlos spends his time running his own woodwind repair business and arranging or recording music for various ensembles.
