Paul Schaeffer

Paul Schaeffer is Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of the Mandalay Entertainment Group. Along with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Guber, Mr. Schaeffer is responsible for all aspects of the motion picture, sports, television and e-sports business, focusing primarily on the corporate and business operations of those entities. Mr. Schaeffer was co-founder of the Mandalay Entertainment Group with Peter Guber in 1995.

Prior to forming Mandalay, Paul was the Executive Vice President of Sony Pictures Entertainment, overseeing the worldwide corporate operations for SPE – including Worldwide Administration, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Corporate Affairs, Legal Affairs and Corporate Communications, as well as other corporate groups. A veteran of 20 years of private law practice, with 15 years in entertainment law, Mr. Schaeffer joined SPE from Armstrong, Hirsch and Levine, where he was a senior partner working on corporate entertainment matters for a number of motion picture, television, and music clients. Paul graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received his accounting degree from Pennsylvania State University. He was also an accountant with Arthur Young & Company in Philadelphia, before attending law school.

When not conquering the entertainment world, Paul commits much of his free time to community involvement. He has been a Trustee of the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles’ Foundation for over 25 years as well as on their Advisors Council of it’s Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and is a member of the Cedars Sinai Medical Center Board of Governors. In addition, he is on the Budget and Finance Committee for Jewish Health (formerly the Jewish Home of Los Angeles) and is on the Board of Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA).

Mr. Schaeffer is also an owner of the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors, and he is a founder of aXiomatic (sic), which, along with Team Liquid, its subsidiary, are the owners of 15 professional e-sports teams.

Paul and his wife, Judy, have been married for 55 years and enjoy their relationship with their two children and six grandchildren. Paul’s son, Jonathan Schaeffer, is also a member of the Board of Children’s Hospital Foundation of Los Angeles (CHLA), while his daughter, Lori Gray, is Director of Admissions & Middle School Transition for UCLA’s Lab School.
