A Look Back at 2014

Spring is definitely in the air at HOLA, but before we spring forward, we thought it would be a good time to take a look back at 2014 and all that we accomplished. Not only did we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, but we were able to expand the number of youth served to nearly 3,000! Click on the box below to view the video annual report set to Ziggy Marley’s hit single Lighthouse. Thank you, Ziggy, for your incredible support of HOLA and our kids.

HOLA Celebrates 25 Years!

In a manner that is fitting for a 25th anniversary, Heart of Los Angeles celebrated 25 years with over 600 guests at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The sold out event was a smashing success, bringing us close to our goal of raising $1 million. Members of the HOLA senior class were on hand to welcome the guests and share their experiences. The Honorable Eric Garcetti, Mayor of Los Angeles, and Ziffren Brittenham LLP, a pre-eminent entertainment and media law firm, were both honored for their […]

Kirp, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and the author of “Improbable Scholars: The Rebirth of a Great American School System and a Strategy for America’s Schools,” wrote and op-ed in the New York […]

Throughout the residency HOLA art students activated public spaces in the neighborhood surrounding HOLA and examined the role of commerce and the public sphere in art. The students considered the definition of art, who an artist is and […]
