As well as being Director of Leadership and Summer Programs, Loren is also an award winning actor and director. In 2000 he won the LA Weekly Award for his Direction and Production Design for, “The Master and Margarita,” which ran for six months at the Hudson Backstage Theater. Loren has a degree in Theater and Liberal Arts, and a background of grassroots community organizing, starting when he was five years old working as a volunteer in political campaigns and with the non-profit election watchdog group Project LEAP. Prior to assuming his current role at HOLA, Loren served as the Director of HOLA’s Bridges Day-Time Program for over nine years. As the Bridges Director, Loren provided thousands of middle school youth with transformative academic, social and leadership programming. Having completed his course work for a Master’s in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College, Loren is currently working on his thesis exploring mentoring relationships in after-school programs.
