Among the many offerings included in the HOLA’s Athletics and Outdoor Activities Program, students of all ages have the opportunity to participate in flag football clinics. Formal leagues for middle school students are held in the fall and flag football is offered as an enrichment activity for students who participate in SmartStart, Bridges and PAT programs.

On the first day of summer programming, HOLA and the Los Angeles City Department of Recreation and Parks hosted the launch of a collaborative initiative between the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation USA (Laureus USA) and Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA). On Saturday, August 22nd, Heart of Los Angeles and California United Bank along with football legends from Stanford and USC, hosted the 1st Annual College Bound Gridiron Greats. This past Saturday, August 22nd, inner-city youth from LA’s Rampart District received “A Dream” football clinic from childhood gridiron greats from collegiate standouts for USC and Stanford who played on some of their university’s most historic teams. On July 23rd, we went to Will Rogers State Beach. This was an experience to remember for some of our campers. For some campers this was their first time ever at the beach. The students enjoyed an afternoon at the beach making sand castles, running away from waves, throwing a football around, and collecting seaweed. Also, we celebrated a students’ birthday at the beach. It was a day to remember!
