HOLA on YouTube

Every year, we ask our students, from elementary to high school, to write letters to Santa and every year, we (and Santa) are faced with the uncomfortable fact that many of our students view basic needs as luxuries.

My dad doesn’t have a pillow to lay his head on, after working 3 jobs to put food on the table.

I sleep on the floor, and 3am gets really cold, so I would like a bed for Christmas.

It would be great to receive some extra money to apply to another Cal State college that is $55.

Sifting through the letters, a reader is met with biting inside perspective that reflects the grave reality of the community in which we serve.

While many see a Wish List as a place to ask for iPads or video games, our students see it as an opportunity to give a gift to a loved one or acquire a something useful for their everyday life. We like to give our students hope and reward for all the hard work and sacrifice for which they are responsible. This holiday season, we are seeking your assistance in bringing the holiday spirit to HOLA.

Toy Drive 2015

We’ve created an Amazon Wish List that has a variety of items ranging from $4.99 and up. Monetary donations are always encouraged for the wishes that can’t be purchased on Amazon, i.e. I would really like to take my mom to Disneyland because she works so hard and I want her to have fun.” To donate via website please note “Toy Drive” in the additional comments box. And of course, you can always use the good old-fashioned snail mail approach: ATTN: Toy Drive Heart of Los Angeles, 2701 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 100 Los Angeles, CA 90057

Thank you for the warm support and we wish you and your loved ones the merriest of seasons!
