AmeriCorps VISTAs Expand HOLA’s Capacity
This week the AmeriCorps VISTA program turns 50! VISTA was founded in 1965 as a national service program to fight poverty in America. Today, more than 46 million Americans live in poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA taps the skills, talents and passion of more than 7,000 Americans annually to support community efforts to overcome poverty. HOLA is currently in the middle of a three-year capacity building project and we have three extraordinary young woman spending the year at HOLA as VISTA volunteers. Beka, Evelyn and Kelly are working to build HOLA’s capacity in communications, development and volunteer recruitment and outreach. All three volunteers are providing support to the entire organization and their efforts will live on long after their year of service ends in April.
