HOLA on YouTube

Jessica Guendolay is no stranger to HOLA. She started coming to HOLA when she was six years old, back when we were located in Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. She has fond memories of here time here and is grateful for all of the support she received over the years. She wasn’t able to come as often as she wanted to during high school, but she stopped by any time she found herself in the neighborhood. This summer she found the pull too strong and she decided it was time to come back and give back to HOLA. She registered as a volunteer and re-connected with her middle school teacher and now Director of Leadership and Summer Programs, Loren Rubin. Loren immediately got Jessica involved in the Play for Peace program and she hasn’t looked back. For approximately 10-15 hours every week during the summer session, Jessica worked as an intern. She helped train the high school facilitators and worked with them to conduct Play for Peace classes with the elementary and middle school kids.

Jessica is now attending West LA Community College, with the hopes of transferring next year to UC Santa Barbara or one of the Cal States.
