HOLA on YouTube

Sarah Perkins joins HOLA’s music program as a summer intern. Sarah draws on her experience as a bassoon player to teach private bassoon lessons, along with helping to lead the brass sectional and transitions classes. Sarah says working with the kids is so much fun, but exhausting! She loves working with the kids because they have so much energy to feed off of and the younger kids are such a fun age group to teach. She is excited to be able to get experience in teaching because she would like teaching to be part of her life post-college.

The Stanford University senior was awarded a grant for a community arts fellowship and she chose HOLA because she was interested in the El Sistema inspired YOLA at HOLA program. She wanted to see firsthand how the idea behind the program worked in action. During the nine week fellowship, in addition to leading the summer camp classes, she is also learning how the administrative side of the program operates. Sarah is majoring in both Bassoon Performance and Comparative Literature and we are thrilled to welcome her to HOLA.
