HOLA on YouTube

Why HOLA? Because of people like Jon Pearson. Jon was first introduced to HOLA through his brother Chris, when it was just a Saturday morning program. After volunteering with the kids, Jonathon was hired as the Athletic Director in 1992, the first full-time paid staff position. He fondly remembers going on camping trips to Oregon with the kids and of course, winning the Central City Basketball Association championship! While the kids he worked with are now adults, the relationships he built with them at HOLA have lasted through the years and he still remains close friends with both Mitch and Tony.

As a young adult, Jon’s experience volunteering at HOLA gave him direction and helped him realize that he wanted to focus his career on working with children. HOLA fostered a desire to help kids make their lives better and to be a positive influence in their lives. For Jon, HOLA will always hold a special place in his heart. “Without HOLA, I don’t know where I’d be.”

Jon served as HOLA’S Athletic Director for seven years and went on to serve as a Board member from 2000 – 2004. He is currently the Principal of Culver City Middle School and next year will become the Director of Student Services in the Torrance Unified School District.
