HOLA on YouTube

The first CicLAvia event of 2014 celebrated Iconic Wilshire Boulevard, bringing thousands of bikers, skaters, walkers, and others right past HOLA’s community campus. CicLAvia catalyzes vibrant public spaces, active transportation and good health through car-free street events and this route closed down Wilshire Boulevard from Fairfax Avenue all the way to downtown at Grand Street. The HOLA Jazz Combos and Rock Band performed impressive sets in front of the Wilshire Royale, home to HOLA’s Visual Arts Department, with large crowds parking their bikes to take a break and enjoy. The Rock Band stopped traffic with an original tune and their version of “California Love.” Members of the HOLA Prom Committee came out to sell snacks and refreshments to fundraise for their upcoming event. Sales certainly spiked during the musical performances!

The day before the event, the LA Now section of the Los Angeles Times mentioned the bands’ performances as an attraction not to be missed. Click here to read the article.
