HOLA on YouTube

After over a year of volunteering at HOLA, it’s time to say goodbye to Alan Suwito, an amazing volunteer in the Bridges program. Alan spent his time at HOLA tutoring our middle school students and creating special bonds with many of them. Alan first came to HOLA as part of a UCLA Hillel service day last spring and felt such a strong connection to the program that he started coming back on his own. In the fall, he started volunteering at HOLA regularly, two to three times a week. He spent most of his time tutoring students in science and math, which is where he found they needed the most help. He loved seeing the progress they made during the year. In addition to tutoring, he gave invaluable support to HOLA staff.

Looking back on his year, Alan’s favorite things about HOLA are the students, who he can tell really love being here and having a chance to learn and study, and the teachers, who are all passionately committed to their job. Alan has loved his experience volunteering at HOLA and plans to pursue a full-time job working at a nonprofit serving children. Thank you for your dedication. We’ll miss you.
