Art Students Visit the Micheltorena School and Community Garden
Posted by HOLA on November 6, 2011
In early November, HOLA’s art students visited the Micheltorena School and Community Garden. A huge thank you to from Enrich LA who arranged and led the trip. Enrich LA is an environmental non-profit focused on adding edible school gardens to public schools.
The tour of the garden focused on the importance of local, fresh, organic farming. The students learned how to identify a variety of plants and the uses for them. They also explored the importance conserving water and composting. After the tour, the students had the opportunity to photograph and draw the plants in the garden. The students were thrilled to get out of the classroom and connect with nature.
