Elizabeth Curtis, HOLA’s Director of Development, recently received much deserved recognition. In May, Elizabeth was honored by the Junior League of Los Angeles with the prestigious President’s Cup Award. We also wanted to update you on Tony Brown’s Local Heroes Award from the Bank of America.

The Junior League’s President’s Cup Award recognizes a member’s dedication and commitment to volunteerism and civic leadership. Elizabeth has been an active member of the Junior League since 2002 and has served in many areas, including Board Vice President, Chair of the Nominating Committee, the Chrysalis Women’s Empowerment project, and the Holiday Boutique event Treasurer. Elizabeth’s dedication exemplifies the spirit of the Junior League and we are so grateful to the Junior League for their commitment to HOLA and our high school students. The Junior League is about to begin its fourth year of providing “College Prep for Life”. The goal of this 5-week session is to provide the students with “real-life” skills that will help them successfully make the transition from high school to college. During the program, the seniors are taught how to manage their budgets, manage their time, find appropriate help, study, and maximize the college experience.

As we previously told you, Tony recently received the Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative’s Local Heroes Award. Bank of America’s Neighborhood Excellence Initiative recognizes local nonprofits and individuals for their commitment to Los Angeles. Tony is now featured in a poster that can be seen in over 400 Southern California Bank of America branches and in a video that can be viewed at the following link.

Please join the entire HOLA family in extending our heartiest congratulations to Tony and Elizabeth!
